Vector’s Grass Valley laboratory expands!
• NEW FACILITY
In January 2005 Vector moved its Geotechnical lab into a 5,000 square foot facility next door to our corporate offices in Grass Valley, California.
• ROCK MECHANICS LABORATORY
Within the facility, Vector is adding a rock mechanics laboratory. Uniaxial, Indirect Tensile (Brazilian), and Direct Shear are a few of the rock tests Vector is NOW offering. Complete list of tests
• NEW HIRE LUMIN MA, Ph.D. – ROCK MECHANICS
Vector has recently hired Lumin Ma, Ph.D. to head the new rock mechanics lab and manage the Geotechnical laboratory. Dr. Ma comes to Vector from the University of Nevada-Reno. Dr. Ma has performed extensive research using rock mechanics on both the Yucca Mountain and WIPP Projects.
• ADDITIONAL NEW SERVICES
• Los Angeles Abrasion machine. This unit is a valuable tool in measuring the wear and abrasive properties of concrete, asphalt and other types of aggregates.
• Unsaturated hydraulic conductivity testing. Vector is adding the capability to perform tests for determining the Water Characteristics Curves of soils. This curve is developed with the use of several test methods as defined in ASTM D-6836. Parameters from these test are utilized in evaluating the Unsaturated Hydraulic Conductivity properties of Soils. This service will be available in May 2005.
